All About Decorative Concrete

Here at Cesar’s Concrete, we’ve been providing communities in Northern Colorado like Greeley, Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Johnstown, Windsor, and pretty much everywhere in between with exceptional levels of quality when it comes to residential and commercial concrete projects. We are the concrete contractors of choice when it comes to home or business driveways, barn floors, concrete curb and gutter work, custom patio design, driveways, residential and commercial walkways, and even stamped and decorative concrete.

In our last post, we took the time to highlight our broad range of commercial concrete services. We made the point last time, and we’ll make the point this time – any and all work we do serves two main purposes for our commercial clients: we’ll do the job right (and get it done on time and according to the predetermined budget) and we’ll make sure the work beats your expectations. Quite simply, being a top Northern Colorado concrete contractor for a quarter of a century doesn’t happen by accident. It takes time dedicated to perfecting your craft in addition to learning how to run a business. On top of that, Cesar has committed himself to building a company culture which operates with integrity. He makes a point to come out to every single project we work on in order to ensure that our own internal standards are being met.

Now that we’ve gotten something like a preamble out of our system, allow us to say a few words about decorative concrete, what it is, and how you can expect Cesar’s Concrete of Johnstown to help make your place of business or home look better than it currently does.

What Is Decorative Concrete?

We’ve talked about colored concrete before, and that is exactly what it sounds like – concrete that is colored. People choose colored concrete in favor of going with the traditional grey, so it’s great if you are looking at color schemes and find one that would wonderful with a particular vibe you have in mind.

We’ve also talked about stamped concrete, which is simply a technique used to replicate other commonly used paving materials like slate, cobblestone or brick. But decorative concrete varies from the aforementioned styles in the sense that decorative concrete is a term which encompasses a variety of processes that all have one thing in common – they customize concrete surfaces. And while colored concrete isn’t for everyone and traditional, grey concrete can be somewhat unimaginative, decorative concrete allows homeowners and business owners alike to have more control over their concrete surfaces using decorative concrete.

Some of the most common kind of decorative concrete processes are listed below.

  • Concrete Sealing – this refers to laying a protective coat on a given surface in order to inhibit damage from occurring
  • Concrete Staining – simply applying a pattern or solid color to concrete
  • Stamped Concrete – this process involves the embedding of a stamped design into the surface
  • Concrete Overlays – improving the current design of your concrete by resurfacing it with unique designs
  • Concrete Engraving – the act of cutting custom textures into the concrete surface
